WHY MMDK....
The MMDK whose theme is "Beauty with a purpose," is geared towards empowering, enhancing and supporting today's
ever changing and ever growing community of deaf women and men in Kenya. The pageant provides
a platform for the contestants to demonstrate not only their unique talents,
intellect and beauty, but their overall personal and humanitarian goals
This deaf pageant offers young deaf women and men between the ages of 18 and 35 an opportunity to develop self-esteem as they compete to become a goodwill ambassador and spokeswoman of deaf communities especially in areas of HIV/Aids, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Poverty while at the same time addressing plight of deaf women and men in Kenya.
The pageant is also one of the most positive outlets for both deaf men and women, helping to promote a bright future for themselves. Additionally, the pageant aims to teach the deaf contestants to learn about themselves, to foster independence, and to identify individual strengths and collaborative efforts.
